Every year JVN celebrates volunteers and the amazing work they do presenting several awards to some of the community’s most outstanding volunteers. The JVN Volunteering Awards have been held annually since 2014 with this year's event being held last night (Tuesday 2nd March).

This year whilst it was a very different event it still managed to host over 1,000 people online, which was very humbling to see because it is this year, more than ever, that we need to recognise the amazing contribution our volunteers make. Without them we really couldn't do what we do!

We're over the moon to have been nominated for three of the four categories, with David, our Facility and Volunteer Co-ordinator, being nominated for the Volunteer of the Year Award and Ian, our Treasurer and Trustee, being nominated for the Lifetime Achievement Award. Ian and David have done so much to help the charity and the individuals we support, we are really proud that both of them were shortlisted.

Goods For Good was also nominated for the Innovation in Volunteering during the Covid-19 Pandemic Award. Since the start of the Pandemic we've worked incredibly hard to support the requests we've had from our charity partners, working with the NHS hospitals’ front-line staff, food banks, the homeless, refugees and asylum seekers, and extremely vulnerable families to deliver essentials such as hygiene goods, toiletries, clothing, underwear, bedding and nappies. So, to be shortlisted for this award is a which is a huge honour.

Awards were presented in the following categories:

1. Volunteer of the Year

2. Volunteer Team of the Year

3. Lifetime Achievement

4. Innovation in Volunteering during the Covid-19 Pandemic

This year the event is dedicated to JVN's former Chairman, David Lazarus, who sadly passed away at the start of the Pandemic last April after contracting the virus.
