For the past few years, Goods For Good has been working closely with Leanna’s Wish, a community-based charity supporting women, families and the elderly. What started as a partnership to supply football gear for their women’s football team, has grown into a deep and meaningful collaboration that reaches some of the most vulnerable people in their community.
Leanna’s Wish provides practical and emotional support for single parents, families and individuals living on the poverty line, as well as elderly individuals who often go unseen. Recently, our partnership took a new turn when we delivered a donation of toiletries and incontinence pads — essentials that are often overlooked but provide comfort and dignity.
During a recent delivery, our Operations Coordinator met Jan, one of the women supported by Leanna’s Wish. Jan suffers from stress incontinence, a condition that affects millions but is rarely spoken about. The high cost of incontinence products means that many, like Jan, struggle to afford the essential items that allow them to live with dignity.
“I felt like I was disappearing from life,” Jan shared. “I stopped going out as much because I was scared of having an accident. You lose confidence. You lose connection. But here, with Leanna’s Wish, I’ve found a place where I’m accepted. It’s been my saviour.”
Jan’s story is not unique. Around 14 million people in the UK live with bladder conditions, and incontinence products can cost individuals over £1,000 per year. For those already struggling to make ends meet, this often means making impossible choices— paying the bus fare so they can stay connected with friends and their support network, or keeping the heating on during colder months to feel comfortable at home. The financial strain and social stigma lead many to withdraw from social life, exacerbating feelings of loneliness and isolation.
By delivering much-needed incontinence products, we are not providing practical support. We are also helping people reclaim their independence. Having access to these essentials means Jan and others like her can go about their daily lives without fear, embarrassment or restriction. It allows them to re-engage with their community, attend social events and maintain their dignity.
For charities like Leanna’s Wish, our support means they can offer holistic care—ensuring that those they help don’t just survive, but feel seen, valued, and included. This partnership highlights the power of targeted support. Whether it’s football boots to encourage women to stay active or incontinence products to give people back their confidence, Goods For Good is committed to delivering the essentials that transform lives.
