Not having a secure place to call home is frightening. You may not know where you will sleep, whether you will be safe, how long you can stay or where you will go next. Without a secure home, even the basics become difficult. Keeping warm. Washing. Finding clean clothes to wear. Having somewhere dry to keep your bedding and the few possessions you may have.
Then winter brings colder temperatures, wet weather and long nights. Staying warm, clean and dry becomes harder, and going without the essentials can have more serious consequences.
Give a Gift For Good and help us get warm clothing, suitable footwear, clean bedding and toiletries to people living through homelessness and displacement this winter.
This winter, our aim is to raise £25,000 to provide warm clothing, suitable footwear, clean bedding, toiletries and other essentials to people facing homelessness and displacement.
A donation of £25 can provide a family of four in the UK with an essentials box containing clothing, bedding and toiletries.
Homelessness is not always visible When we think about homelessness, we often picture someone sleeping on the streets. But homelessness can also mean living in temporary or insecure accommodation, moving between friends’ homes, staying in a refuge or remaining somewhere unsafe because there is nowhere else to go.
People can lose their homes following bereavement, financial hardship, relationship breakdown or domestic abuse. Others are displaced by conflict or natural disaster and forced to leave with very little.
At least 382,000 people were estimated to be homeless in England in December 2025, including more than 175,000 children. Over 90% were living in temporary accommodation. Rough sleeping remains an urgent issue, but it is only one part of a much wider reality.
Goods For Good works through a network of frontline charities in the UK and trusted partners overseas. These organisations understand the circumstances people are facing and the practical support they need. We provide them with new clothing, footwear, bedding, toiletries and other essential goods so they can respond quickly and directly.
Many of these items begin as surplus stock, overstock, returns or quality seconds donated by businesses. With the help of our supporters, we can turn those goods into practical support for people who have lost their homes, had to leave suddenly or are rebuilding their lives after crisis.
