King Charles' first New Year Honours list has been announced and amongst those being honoured this year is our Founder and CEO Rosalind Bluestone, who has been awarded an MBE for her outstanding service to vulnerable communities around the world.
Rosalind set up Goods For Good in 2014 from her dining room table on Borehamwood. For the first three and a half years she ran the charity with only the support of volunteers and a board of Trustees. Roll forward eight years and whilst the team remains small our reach and impact has grown significantly. To date, we have delivered essential aid to 4 million vulnerable people in over 25 countries across the world.
I dedicate my MBE to all the people. who have selflessly helped me since I set up the charity eight years ago. Together we have supported over 4 million people worldwide.
Rosalind Bluestone, Founder and CEO, Goods For Good
When Rosalind started the charity Goods for Good in 2014, she had a vision to create a compassionate community that helps vulnerable people in urgent need. And she’s achieved this by bringing corporates and communities together to help those in need, taking goods where there is too much to places where there isn’t enough, helping reduce waste and alleviate poverty. By recycling, reusing and redistributing unsold and pre-loved goods we've been able to provide £40 million worth of essentials to over 4million people, saving thousands of tonnes of essentials from going to landfill or being incinerated.
When asked about the MBE Roz said, “I set up Goods For Good eight years ago and I have been truly blessed to have met the most incredible people on this journey. I dedicate my MBE to all the people who have selflessly helped me since I set up the charity in 2014. To those volunteers who have worked tirelessly to help, sort, pack and distribute donations. To my small, dedicated team, who work so hard to support the most vulnerable and in need. To our Corporate Partners, for their kindness, generosity and continued support, and of course, to my wonderful family who have supported and encouraged me from day one. Together we have been able to help over 4 million people in desperate need of essentials.”
This year’s list includes a total of 1,107 recipients – 50% of whom are women. You can view the full New Year Honours list here.
