Project Rescue Ukraine - the need continues

The generosity and kindness of individuals, communities, organisations and companies who have come together to help Ukrainian refugees, who have fled  their homes, leaving everything behind, has been so incredibly heart-warming.

Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February, Goods For Good have been working closely with our charity and logistics partner, HRIF, in the Netherlands.  Together with our trusted network of charity partners we have set up a number of humanitarian aid hubs at the borders in Poland, Moldova, Romania, Hungary as well as in Ukraine itself.

I sincerely thank everyone who has donated time, funds and much needed essential goods.  As the need continues we are planning for phase two of Project Rescue Ukraine.

As I write this more than 60 trucks of humanitarian aid have successfully reached thousands of individuals and families in desperate need of essential goods and food. A total of six trucks, with donations of hygiene and clothing essentials and food from our wonderfully generous communities have also just left our UK Humanitarian Hub in Northampton, which was set up with our aid partners My1st Years.  SEKO Logistics and Hellman Worldwide Logistics have also provided transportation, ensuring the aid reaches those in need.

The local response has been truly humbling; with Watford Borough Council, Watford and Three Rivers Trust, Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor, Luther Blissett and Watford Former Players Group, all working tirelessly to arrange local collections.  This now includes Colin O'Reily at Herts County Council, Department of Public Health who is coordinating 60 schools to arrange collections.

Phase two

The next phase will be a Local Feeding Program where will be purchasing food locally in country, in Ukraine, and distributing to local charities on the ground to get fresh food to people in need.   We will also be supporting local soupkitchens, so that they can deliver cooked food to many who have no access to electricity or gas.

We are also preparing for Ukrainian Refugees who are entering the UK, arriving with hardly any belongings, clothes or others essentials.  We are working with our corporate partners and requesting overstock goods so that we are ready to distribute through our charity partners.  One of our partners, Sebby's Corner, has set up a free shop for Ukrainian refugees to choose what they need.  We continue to support our local charity partners on the borders of Ukraine and will be collecting specific goods as the need is identified.
