Sport For Good receives Sport England funding

Thanks to recent funding from Sport England's Tackling Inequalities Fund, we are delighted to welcome Andrew Anastasiou to the Goods For Good team. Andrew joins the team as Programme Manager for our Sport For Good initiative, and will be leading the design and development of the programme to provide aid to the most needy groups.

Of the appointment Andrew said, “Through the Sport for Good programme, I hope we can create more opportunities for young people and adults to participate in sport through our donations. To help them integrate more quickly into the community and improve their mental and physical well-being. I will share my insight and experience of the sport for good sector to help Goods for Goods achieve maximum impact in these communities.”

Andrew joins Goods For Good with an impressive track record of involvement in organisations that use sport for social good to support children and young people at risk of entering the criminal justice system. 

As Founder and CEO of one of the first community interest companies in the UK, CHILD UK he led the organisation for 12 successful years using sport as a mechanism to transform the lives of young people in deprived areas. More recently Andrew served as the Strategic Lead for the national charity StreetGames, in London and the East of England, and has been leading projects tackling food poverty, serious violence, hate crime, community development and health inequalities.  

Andrew brings his extensive knowledge across a range of sectors in strengthening partnership development, growing income, and marketing and communications and we are excited about what this partnership means for the development of our Sport For Good initiative. Rosalind Bluestone (CEO and Founder of Goods For Good) said of the partnership, "Having a CEO work with us as our Sport For Good Programme Manager is a huge asset. His many years experience working with deprived youth aligns with our vision and purpose perfectly."

Sport England's Tackling Inequalities Fund

With support from Herts Sport Partnership we have secured funding from Sport England's Tackling Inequalities Fund (TIF). 

The Fund was created with £20 million of National Lottery funding in response to the pandemic which highlighted that certain groups of people were being disproportionately affected and it was significantly impacting their ability to be physically active. It's aim is to help reduce the negative impact on activity levels in under-represented groups, with a specific focus on: 

•  Lower socio-economic groups
• Culturally diverse communities
• Disabled people
• People with long-term health conditions. 

Since its launch, TIF has enabled community groups to continue to exist and engage with their communities, supporting people to be engaged and active.
This targeted fund has been designed to deal with the issues caused as a result of Coronavirus supporting community organisations working with priority audiences so it aligns perfectly with the three central pillars of our Sport for Good initiative which aim to: 

1. help poverty-stricken families both in the UK and overseas;
2. improve physical, mental and emotional health;
3. work towards a greener planet.
