At Goods For Good we collaborate with individuals, communities and businesses to make a difference to those in need. Our initiative Repurpose For Good encompasses all our efforts to reduce waste and support vulnerable communities. Project Divert is a vital part of this initiative, focusing on community-driven collection drives. By organising a collection event, you can help gather essential items for those in need. Here’s how you can get involved and make your event a success.
Step-by-Step Guide to Organising a Collection Event
- Get in Touch
- Contact Us: Start by reaching out to our Community Relationships Coordinator, Naomi Bhundia by emailing: naomi.bhundia@goodsforgood.org.uk She'll provide all the information and support you need to get started.
- Plan Your Event
- Choose a Date and Location: Select a convenient date, time, and location for your collection drive. It could be at your school, workplace, place of worship, or community centre.
- Set a Duration: Decide how long your drive will last. It could be a single day, a weekend, or even a month-long event.
- Identify What to Collect
- Current Needs: Focus on the items we are currently collecting for Project Divert, such as gently used clothing, unopened toiletries, and new school stationery.
- Promote Your Event
- Spread the Word: Use flyers, posters, and social media to promote your collection drive. We provide promotional materials to help you get the word out.
- Engage Your Community: Reach out to friends, family, colleagues, and neighbours. The more people involved, the more successful your drive will be.
- Set Up Collection Points
- Gather Supplies: We can provide boxes, bags, and other materials to collect and store donations.
- Organise Drop-Off Locations: Clearly mark where donations should be dropped off and ensure the area is easily accessible.
- Host the Event
- Welcome Donors: Greet participants, thank them for their contributions, and provide information about Goods For Good and Project Divert.
- Collect Donations: Ensure all items are properly collected and stored.
- Wrap Up and Arrange Delivery
- Sort and Pack: Once the drive is complete, sort and pack the donations. Volunteers from your group can help with this.
- Schedule Delivery: Contact us to arrange for the collected items to be picked up or to drop them off at a designated location. You can do this by emailing: info@goodsforgood.org.uk
