Empowering Survivors of Modern Slavery

At Goods For Good, we are dedicated to supporting vulnerable communities both in the UK and across the world. Our mission is to provide essentials, hope, and a path to recovery for society's most vulnerable individuals, including those affected by modern slavery and human trafficking. By partnering with a network of charities, we strive to restore dignity and empower individuals to take control of their lives and focus on their futures.

Providing Essentials

One of the key ways we support survivors of modern slavery is by donating essential items such as toiletries, clothing, and other necessities. These items, which may seem small to some, have a profound impact on the lives of those who receive them. For individuals who have been through traumatic experiences, the simple act of taking a shower or brushing their teeth can be incredibly healing. It represents a return to a routine and the ability to care of themselves - something that has often been stripped away by he trauma of their past experiences.

Our contributions ensure that safe houses and shelters run by our partner organisations are well-equipped to meet the needs of their residents. By alleviating the burden of obtaining basic day-to-day items such as clothing, bedding and toiletries survivors can focus on their recovery and rebuilding their lives.

Offering Hope and a Path to Recovery

Modern slavery leaves deep scars, both physical and emotional, and we understand that the journey from victim to survivour is challenging and complex. The essential we provide help make this journey possible. By working closely with organisations that provide specialised support, we provide items that help them run programs that are crucial for recovery.

  • Restore Dignity: Essential items like shampoo, period products, and toothbrushes help survivors feel clean and cared for.
  • Promote Healing: Access to personal care items is a crucial part of the recovery process, aiding physical and emotional healing.
  • Support Daily Needs: Toiletries are basic necessities that many survivors lack, and our donations fill this critical gap.
  • Enhance Independence: Providing these items helps individuals take small but significant steps towards rebuilding their lives.

The Kind Network: Supporting Our Charity Partners

We collaborate with a network of charity partners who are on the front line, supporting vulnerable people and communities. Through our Kind Network we support charities who work with victims of slavery, exploitation and trafficking. These organisations include the Medailla Trust, Women at the Well and Care4Calais, among others.

The Medaille Trust have 26 safe houses which support hundreds of residents across the UK, we support them in the provision of toiletries, hygiene products and clothing.

This year alone, we have delivered thousands of items to people in shelters and safe houses. These deliveries include toiletry packs and care packages, clothing and bedding as well as footwear, and underwear. These essential items play a crucial role in providing immediate relief and comfort to survivors, helping them regain a sense of normalcy and dignity after experiencing trauma.

  • Care Packages: Items like toothbrushes, shampoo, and soap may seem basic, but for survivors of modern slavery, they are essential in restoring personal hygiene and self-worth.
  • Clothing: Many survivors arrive with nothing more than the clothes they were wearing when they escaped. Providing fresh clothing is vital for their comfort and self-esteem. Our donations ensure that individuals have clean, suitable clothes to wear, which helps them feel more secure and valued as they start rebuilding their lives.
  • Bedding: Clean, comfortable bedding is crucial for providing a safe and restful environment, allowing survivors to sleep soundly and recover physically and emotionally.
  • Footwear and Underwear: These basic necessities are often overlooked but are critical for daily comfort and mobility. Providing new, clean items helps to restore dignity and improve quality of life.

A Broader Commitment to Vulnerable Communities

Our work with survivors of modern slavery is just one aspect of our broader commitment to vulnerable communities. We collaborate with a network of charity partners to support a wide range of individuals in need, from homeless people to refugees. By providing essentials and supporting recovery programs we aim to create a ripple effect of positive change across different segments of society.

Regaining Control After Years of Exploitation: Ada's story

Living in Nigeria Ada* dreamt of a better future for herself and her two daughters. When a family friend offered her the chance of a new start in the UK, she was excited by the promise of stable employment and a safe place to live. When she arrived in the UK, Ada found herself trapped in a nightmare. Her supposed benefactor was a trafficker who forced her into debt and coerced her into sex work. Ada’s story highlights the critical issue of modern slavery and how crucial our role is in supplying toiletries, clothing, and other essentials to help make a difference in the lives of those affected by exploitation.
