Personalised children’s brand My 1st Years is today announcing that with every product purchased, they will support Goods For Good and clothe a child in need. Now, with every product purchased, not only will you be giving a unique, personalised gift to your special someone, but you will also be helping to clothe an in need child. Through our partnership, their aim is to clothe 1 million children in need every year.
Whether it’s a monogrammed towel for a new baby, a special gift for a milestone birthday or something bespoke for a christening or baptism, your purchase will be a lasting reminder of a special moment whilst at the same time, a child in need will be clothed. Jonny Sitton, Founder and CEO of My 1st Years said, " Goods For Good is a fantastic charity with an incredible mission that we are very proud to continue supporting. As one of the largest baby and children's gifting brands in the world, My 1st Years have partnered with them to enhance our donation and clothe a child for every order we make as a business. We currently ship over 600,000 orders a year and this now gives us even more purpose to achieve our goal in the next few years of 1 million orders per year. We're aiming to clothe 1 million children in need every year! We hope all of our customers and followers will join us in supporting this mission, it will mean so much to us"
Whilst Goods For Good has worked with My 1st Years for almost six years, the relationship goes back more than 20 years; and is rooted, quite aptly, in childhood and family connection. And, it's this dedication to family that underpins the partnership. Over the years My 1st Years has donated over £250k worth of goods including clothing and toys for families in need, in some of the poorest areas Moldova and Ukraine. In 2022, in the face of the current crisis in Ukraine, My 1st Years leapt into action, offering to open their Northampton warehouse as an Aid Hub - an incredible act of solidarity for those in need.
I am hugely grateful to Jonny Sitton and the team at My 1st Years for all they have done for us. This act of generosity is truly humbling. Access to seasonally appropriate and proper fitting clothing is limited for many families but it is a basic need and critical to a child’s healthy development. This pledge is a huge act of kindness and will impact many lives.
Rosalind Bluestone MBE, Founder & CEO, Goods For Good
Within the first few weeks of the Russo-Ukrainian war, seven consignments of humanitarian aid left the warehouse. The goods were packed and labelled by the My 1st Years team; goods were logged on a manifest, weighed measured, and loaded up onto lorries, which were supplied by our partner SEKO Logistics. Since then the warehouse has become a distribution Hub for Goods For Good allowing us to direct large volumes of goods from donor organisations as well as plan mixed loads of goods to the charity partners we support.
Rosalind commented, "The Aid Hub is a blessing for us as our working space is small and inadequate to handle large volumes/multiple donations of unsold stock, donated by retailers and manufacturers. As a small charity we don’t have the funds to invest in a large warehouse facility. Their support means also means we're able to meet export standards and humanitarian aid regulations. "
But the commitment doesn't stop at stock control and distribution operations, today as My 1st Years is pledging to support Goods For Good by clothing a child in need with every purchase made on their online store. There are currently 356 million children living in extreme poverty globally. In the UK alone, there are currently 4.2 million children living in deep poverty; that's one in every four children who don't have the vital essentials to survive. This pledge of generosity will have a significant impact on the lives of the people we support, whilst also going some way to helping bring awareness to the issue of clothing poverty.
Speaking on the announcement Rosalind said, "I am hugely grateful to Jonny Sitton and the team at My 1st Years for all they have done for us. This act of generosity is truly humbling. Access to seasonally appropriate and proper fitting clothing is limited for many families but it is a basic need and critical to a child’s healthy development. This pledge is a huge act of kindness and will impact many lives."
