Providing Hope And Healing For Hertfordshire Armed Forces Veterans

Having a safe place to be when you're feeling suicidal can literally be the difference between life and death. When someone is in the depths of despair and contemplating ending their own life, having a place where they feel safe and supported is essential. Providing a sanctuary away from the overwhelming thoughts and emotions, where they know they won't be judged or stigmatised for their struggles can be the difference that enables them to seek help without fear of repercussions.

I’ve come to understand firsthand just how essential hope is to life, and that why it's the driving force behind everything we do at Goods for Good. We're dedicated to supporting organisations like Minds At War because we believe in the transformative power of hope to bring healing and restoration to those who have sacrificed so much.

Rosalind Bluestone, Founder and CEO, Goods For Good

That's why we support organisations like Minds At War, and it's why we teamed up with our partners at Silent Night to provide them with six custom-made mattresses for their Big Yellow Battle Bus. Because for us, it's more than just a gesture - it's a lifeline! By ensuring that the Big Yellow Battle Bus is equipped with these mattresses, we're not just providing a place to rest weary heads; we're contributing to the creation of a safe, supportive environment where veterans can find peace and relief.

What is the Big Yellow Battle Bus

This mobile sanctuary, operated by the Minds at War mental health organisation, travels across Herts, Beds, and Bucks, offering crucial support to armed forces and their families coping with the often devastating effects of PTSD and CPTSD. Providing vital assistance to veterans, Norman and his team work tirelessly to prevent suicide and self-harm. They offer comprehensive support, addressing the various issues that can arise after military service, including mental health struggles, financial hardships, homelessness, and dependency on substances or alcohol. In the past month, the organisation has supported 79 crisis points, helping thousands of people in need.

Norman McGuigan from Minds at War talks to our Head of Partnerships, Andrew Anastasiou about the value of our support

Commenting on the partnership, Founder and CEO, Rosalind Bluestone said, "As CEO of Goods For Good, I firmly believe that everyone deserves access to essentials, hope, and a path to recovery, especially society's most vulnerable. We are more than just a charity - we are a support system for over 150 charities, who in turn, support vulnerable people from all walks of life. Through our Kind Network, we provide assistance to almost 80 charities in the UK, ensuring that those in need receive the support they deserve. This is why supporting organisations like Minds at War holds such significance for us. By offering our support, we aim to restore dignity and empower individuals to take control of their lives, remaining focused on their journey towards healing and well-being."
