Launching Labels For Good – putting a stop to throw-away fashion and raising money for good

Help us put a stop to throw-away fashion and divert goods from landfill by getting involved in our Labels For Good initiative which launches on Tuesday 6th June.

Goods for Good is today announcing a new campaign to urge people to donate goods to our eBay shop, to help us raise funds and keep our vital work going. The initiative, Labels For Good, is being set up in response to an overwhelming need for our services and as a way to contribute to sustainability efforts in fashion.

Now, more than ever, we need to act to both help people who desperately need it and to protect our planet. Practising circular fashion and living more sustainably, through our new initiative, is a way to bring these two worlds together.

The impact of the pandemic and subsequent cost-of living and energy crisis have caused many more families to slip into poverty. As a result, we’ve seen our activities increase by over 1000% as we respond to requests from our network of over 200 charities, who support the most vulnerable people in society. Founder and CEO, Rosalind Bluestone MBE said, “Now, more than ever, we need to act to both help people who desperately need it and to protect our planet. Practising circular fashion and living more sustainably, through our new initiative, is a way to bring these two worlds together. Crucially the funds raised will help us to continue our vital work.”

As a charity we’re always look for innovative ways to raise the vital funds needed to sustain our work. In 2021 we teamed up with Instagram-based auctioneer The Big Heart Edit; a philanthropic venture seeking to encourage shopping with purpose. The eight-part auction series ran on Instagram over six months. It brought together a team of incredible brands and curators, including the 'fashion-conscious edit' from award-winning business journalist and fashion activist Rachel Arthur and raised £25,000 for the charity. Rosalind said, “Our model means that for ever £1 donated we can deliver approximately £50-worth of aid, so if we’re able to raise this kind of sum through our eBay shop we could deliver in the region of £1.2M of aid to people who are often living in extreme poverty and often tragic circumstances.”

Companies like Harrods and The Dune Group are amongst the partners who have donated goods for resale on the charity’s eBay store.

What is Labels For Good and how can you get involved?

Launching on Tuesday 6th June, the Labels For Good initiative invites businesses, individuals and community groups to donate items for resale on the charity's eBay shop. The ask is simple; donate just one item for resale on the charity's eBay store; from designer clothing and accessories to collectables, memorabilia and jewellery, your donation(s) will help raise the much-needed funds to support their work, delivering essential aid to individuals and families around the world affected by war, natural disaster and poverty. For every £1 made via your donation Goods For Good can deliver £50-worth of aid.
