The last couple of months have been extraordinary, not least because it's the first time, since setting up my charity Goods For Good 7 years ago, that I've had to take a step back, re-prioritise hand over the wheel to my team.

National Volunteering Week is a week in which we celebrate volunteers and say thank you to them for the contribution they make.  In this short blog David talks about how he came to volunteer with Goods For Good and why, for him, it's been a life-changing experience. 

Once again The Ecclesiastical Insurance Group are giving £1 million to charities through their Movement for Good awards. Now in its third year the awards have been set-up to helping give back to communities by championing the issues that really matter to them.

Every month we support thousands of vulnerable people by delivering essential every day items such as toiletries and hygiene goods. But with 40% of the goods we deliver having to be purchased by us there is a limit to what we can achieve. Until now! 

Last week we welcomed Nye onto the team. Nye joins us as part of the government's Kickstart Scheme. In this short interview, we chatted to him about what interested him in the role at Goods For Good and what he hopes to achieve over the next six months with us.

Sports programs can create stable and inclusive communities and have the power to create a significant social impact on individuals and communities alike. Working with organisations who support vulnerable communities we have recently launched the pilot of our Sports For Good initiative which will deliver sports kit and footwear, so those people in need so they have the means to access services and support networks available to them.

On Sunday 21st March we hosted our second online fundraisers – our BIG NIGHT IN SPRING QUIZ EXTRAVAGANZA! and it was a fantastic evening.

Today we join the world in celebrating International Women’s Day. The theme this year is #ChooseToChallenge and we talked to our CEO, Rosalind Bluestone about what prompted her to set up the charity 6.5 years ago, what International Women’s Day means to her and why it’s so important for women to stand united and to lift each other up.

Every year JVN celebrates volunteers and the amazing work they do presenting several awards to some of the community’s most outstanding volunteers. The JVN Volunteering Awards have been held annually since 2014 with this year's event being held last night (Tuesday 2nd March).
